The first passenger vessel moored to the floating berth in the seaport of Taganrog in 2024

On May 11, 2024, the Volga Star motor vessel moored to the floating berth No. 9 of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Azovo-Chernomorsky Basin Branch in the seaport of Taganrog, becoming the first passenger vessel to use this berth in 2024.

There were 190 passengers and 69 crew members onboard the Volga Star vessel. The vessel follows Rostov-on-Don – Taganrog – Rostov-on-Don route.

Floating berth No. 9, which is 96 m long and 16 m wide, was built in 2023 pursuant to the instructions of Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko, and the works were supervised by Vasily Golubev, Governor of the Rostov Region.

The construction of the berth, capable of handling passenger vessels up to 141 m long, allow restoring passenger water communication between Taganrog, Azov and Rostov-on-Don in the Rostov region and also had a positive impact on the tourist attractiveness of the historical city of Taganrog and the development of the region as a whole.

In order to ensure safe maneuvering and mooring of passenger vessels to the floating berth, the Azovo-Chernomorsky Basin Branch performed repair-dredging works in the amount of 22.8 thousand cubic meters in the water area of the seaport Taganrog from March 30 to April 12, 2024. Implementation of these measures allows passenger vessels with a draft of up to 3 m to moor at the berth.
