Kaliningrad Department of the North-Western Basin Branch assists the Young Sailors Club “Captains of the Future”

On September 23, 2022 Andrey Moshkov, Deputy Director of the FSUE “Rosmorport” North-Western Basin Branch – Head of the Kaliningrad Department, met with the senior management of the secondary school municipal budgetary general education institution “School of the Future” and the Young Sailors Club “Captains of the Future”.

The Young Sailors Club “Captains of the Future” was founded in September 2018 at the secondary school municipal budgetary general education institution “School of the Future”, with more than 100 students of the school enrolled in it. The club has 6 sailing boats of the Cadet class and 15 double paddle boats.

The schoolmasters and coaches of the club teach children the basics of nautics, give sailing classes, ensure the participation of young yachtsmen in competitions, and help them to choose a future career related to the sea.

In order to popularize seafaring, a decision was made at the end of the meeting on the more in-depth participation of the Kaliningrad Department in the children extracurricular education programs, related to seafaring, and the development of a program of joint activities of the Kaliningrad Department and the school on developing the Young Sailors Club.

As a symbolic start of cooperation, Andrey Moshkov donated a marine lantern to the Young Sailors Club Museum, which will be used as a museum exhibit and for educational purposes of the young members of the club.

The FEN-140 electric marine lantern is installed on fixed beacons on sea routes to facilitate navigation in the dark. This is a circular action lantern with a luminous intensity of 186 Cd. The colour of the lamp light is white, green, red, blue, it can be changed by installing the appropriate colour filter.
