Icebreaker Festival in St. Petersburg Arranging Press Conference

In St. Petersburg on the Krasin icebreaker–museum on April 30, 2014 the joint press conference of the representatives of the FSUE “Rosmorport” North-West Basin Branch and the World Ocean Museum Branch in St. Petersburg Icebreaker “Krasin” dedicated to the Icebreaker Festival of 3-4 May, 2014 was held, and also the scientific-practical conference “Russian Icebreaker Fleet - History and Perspectives” was closed.
 
The North-West Basin Branch representatives participated in the event told the present about the results of 2013-2014 winter navigation in the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland, special aspects of providing services by the branch on the icebreaking support of the vessels in the Baltic Sea, as well as the practical experience of the use of the icebreakers by the North-West Basin Branch.
 
It should be noted that the day before the conference at Vyborg shipyard the float out ceremony of the 21900M project diesel-electric icebreaker hull was held, being the first in the three icebreaker series – the more sophisticated ones in comparison with the maintained now by the North-West Basin Branch 21900 project Moskva and Sankt-Peterburg icebreakers built on domestic shipyards not long ago. The new icebreakers after the completion of their construction and commissioning will join the icebreaker fleet of the branch to be used in the Baltic Sea to provide a more stable and safe navigation to the Russian ports in the Baltic Sea in winter.
