FSUE “Rosmorport” switches the first GMDSS coast station to domestic software

FSUE “Rosmorport” has completed work on technical re-equipment of the Sea Area A2 of the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) Coast Station Kaliningrad.

As a result of the activities carried out, specialists of the Kaliningrad Department of the North-Western Basin branch of the enterprise have deployed a fully domestic hardware and software complex that meets national and international requirements in the field of GMDSS. The contractor for the technical re-equipment has developed and released a new platform for receiving and transmitting equipment, as well as created specialized software that is included in the Unified Register of Russian Programs for Electronic Computers and Databases.

The work was carried out in accordance with the Decree of the President of Russia “On measures to ensure the technological independence and security of the critical information infrastructure of the Russian Federation”, Methodological recommendations for the transition to the use of Russian software, including at significant facilities of the critical information infrastructure of the Russian Federation, approved by the order of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, and the plan of FSUE “Rosmorport” for the transition to the use of Russian software at critical information infrastructure facilities for the period 2022-2024.

The Sea Area A2 GMDSS Coast Station Kaliningrad was put into operation in May 2000. It consists of a communication control center combined with an Rx station located in the village of Bolshoe Isakovo, and a Tx radio station located in the village of Krasnoe in the Guryevsky Urban District of the Kaliningrad Region.

The coast station is designed to carry out continuous radio surveillance on GMDSS frequencies in the IW-range, organize operational communication between vessels and the maritime rescue coordination center in the seaport of Kaliningrad for organizing rescue operations and performs automatic procedures for processing a distress, urgency and safety call.
