The icebreaker Novorossiysk of FSUE "Rosmorport" arrived at the seaport of Vanino on January 11, 2022 to provide icebreaking assistance in the water area of the seaport and on approaches to it.

Earlier, in November and December 2021, the Novorossiysk provided icebreaking assistance for vessels with social cargoes to Chukotka as part of goods delivery to the Northern Territories. After returning to the seaport of Vladivostok on January 4 and replenishing supplies, the icebreaker headed towards the seaport of Vanino on January 8.

According to the approved plan for the deployment of icebreakers for the period of icebreaking assistance in freezing ports of the Russian Federation in 2021-2022, two icebreakers are to be provided in the seaport of Vanino (the first one from January 15, the second one from February 1). By early February, the icebreaker Magadan will arrive to Vanino from Vladivostok, also being able to provide icebreaking escort for vessels to the seaport of Sovetskaya Gavan on a commercial basis if necessary.

FSUE "Rosmorport" provides icebreaking assistance services for vessels in 15 freezing seaports of Russia and on the approaches to them.
