Onego Shipyard held a meeting of the working group on deep modernization of the enterprise

On September 10, 2021, a visiting session of the interdepartmental working group to coordinate work and monitor the implementation of the investment project for the deep modernization of the enterprise was held at the Onego Shipyard. The meeting was attended by the member of the board of the Military Industrial Commission of the Russian Federation Vladimir Pospelov, deputy head of the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport Zakhary Dzhioev, director of the Department of Shipbuilding Industry and Marine Engineering of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Boris Kabakov, head of the Republic of Karelia Arthur Parfenchikov, rector of Saint Petersburg State Maritime Technical University Gleb Turichin.

Developed by the Saint Petersburg State Maritime Technical University together with the "Center for Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Technology" JSC and FSUE "Rosmorport", the project of deep modernization of JSC "Onego Shipyard" involves the introduction of digital support for the construction of vessels, robotization and automation of production processes. The project also provides for an increase in labor productivity by at least 2 times and the number of vessels built from 3 to 10 annually. As part of the project, it is planned to build new facilities (block of building workshops, checkpoint, data processing center, gasification station, treatment facilities) and reconstruct the existing slipway. In terms of digitalization of the plant, an integrated digital production information system will be introduced, which should provide digital management of the enterprise as a whole and the effective operation of its main production capacities using modern management and information technologies adapted for shipbuilding.

Head of the interdepartmental working group Vladimir Pospelov noted the uniqueness of the project due to a combination of several factors: the location of the plant at the intersection of the main waterways of Russia, the demand for the enterprise's products and the presence of developed hydraulic infrastructure in the region.

Head of the Republic of Karelia Arthur Parfenchikov noted that the implementation of the modernization project of JSC "Onego Shipyard" will ensure the creation of more than 500 new jobs, and assured that the regional government will decide whether to train qualified shipbuilders in educational institutions of Karelia.
