Kaliningrad Directorate of the North-Western Basin Branch participates in exercises on search and rescue of people in distress at sea

On August 4, 2021, exercises on search and rescue of people in distress at sea were held in the seaport of Kaliningrad, units of the Kaliningrad Directorate of the North-Western Basin Branch of FSUE "Rosmorport" taking part in them.

The coordination of forces and means of the rescue units participating in the exercises was carried out by the marine rescue coordination center of FSBI “Administration of the Baltic Sea Seaports” branch in the seaport of Kaliningrad.

In addition to the Kaliningrad Directorate of the North-Western Basin Branch, the units of the Border Directorate of the Russian Federal Security Service in the Kaliningrad Region, Kaliningrad Customs, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergencies in the Kaliningrad Region and the Baltic Fleet units took part in the exercises.

The landing vessel Kapitan Belyaev of the Kaliningrad Directorate, as well as unit of control center of the sea region A1, A2 of GMDSS of the communication service and an electric and radio navigation of the Kaliningrad Directorate were involved in the exercises.

According to the legend of the exercises, it was necessary to search for and save the crew of the vessel Spirit in distress.

During the exercises, the actions of units, forces and means of search and rescue services at searching and rescuing people in distress at sea in search and rescue areas in the Russian area of ​responsibility were worked out.

The crew of the vessel Kapitan Belyaev had to follow to a set point and establish communication with the Kaliningrad MRCC and the coordinator at the search site, then carry out flight search and rescue support for the MI-8t and Ka-27ps helicopters in the area of ​lifting dummies from the water.

Having successfully fulfill the first task, the crew of the vessel Kapitan Belyaev received the second task to go quickly to the new assigned area of ​sea and search for people by passing "traverses" as part of a group of vessels and motor boats.

The crew of the vessel Kapitan Belyaev within 30 minutes from the start managed to find a life raft on the water and people in distress who were successfully lifted aboard the ship and provided with emergency medical aid.

The leadership of the exercises noted the coherence of actions and professionalism of all emergency services participating in the operation. All goals of the exercises were successfully achieved. The leadership of the exercises expressed special gratitude to the crew of the vessel Kapitan Belyaev for its skillful actions.
