Over one thousand passengers visit a new building of the sea terminal in the seaport of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky

By yearend 2017 a new building of the sea terminal in the seaport of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky has already accepted almost one thousand passengers. The building was opened in July 2017 upon completion of the three-year-long construction.

Pursuant to Rosmorrechflot Resolution No KS-72-r of March 28, 2017 and FSUE “Rosmorport” Order No 121 of April 07, 2017, the building of the sea terminal has been assigned to FSUE “Rosmorport” and transferred to the Petropavlovsk Branch under economic management.

Over 70% of passengers, who have attended the sea terminal since its opening, were passengers of local sea lines.

At present, the building of the sea terminal is equipped with all necessary equipment, access, search and transportation security control systems. It is expected that till the end of 2018, upon completion of all works in the building of the sea terminal in order to equip the Russian checkpoint, every year it will be able to handle at least 4.000 passengers arriving in the seaport of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on cruise ships.

The total space of the four-storey building of the sea terminal is over 8.000 square meters. The sea terminal is designed for simultaneous handling of 200 people. It comprises of a waiting room, a parenting room, a baggage room, ticket and luggage desks, a post office, a well-care office, a hall for passengers’ long stay, the Russian border checkpoint and premises for ports’ services.

Taking into account the fact that Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky is located in the seismic hazard zone, the building of the sea terminal has been built due to the 10-point seismicity. The system of seismic isolation of the building has been constructed in the form of metalastic mountings with the lead core. The building of the sea terminal consists of two separate blocs and is held on 117 seismic mountings, which have been installed on an in-situ concrete slab with the density of 400 mm. Seismic mountings absorb yanks of the earth’s crust that is why in the event of an earthquake the building will shake on the minimum amplitude.
