The Astrakhan Branch carries out a final release of young Russian sturgeon into the watercourses of the Volga River in 2021

On July 26, 2021, the Astrakhan Branch of FSUE "Rosmorport" in the presence of representatives of state control and supervisory bodies carried out the second final release this year of young Russian sturgeon into the watercourses of the Volga River.

Russian sturgeon fingerlings with an average piece weight of more than 3 grams in the amount of almost 27 thousand specimens were grown by a specialized fish breeding plant by order of the Astrakhan Branch.

This release was carried out as part of environmental measures to compensate for damage to aquatic bioresources and their habitat caused during the construction of protective structures of the Volga-Caspian Sea Shipping Canal in the maritime part of the canal.

The expenses of the Astrakhan Branch for the cultivation and production of this batch of Russian sturgeon fingerlings amounted to more than 470 thousand rubles, and in general, the Astrakhan Branch spent more than 2.8 million rubles on the release of two batches of Russian sturgeon during the implementation of compensation measures.
