Astrakhan Branch releases young Russian sturgeon into the Volga River

On June 29, 2021, in the presence of representatives of state supervision authorities, the Astrakhan Branch of FSUE "Rosmorport" released young Russian sturgeon into the Volga River.

Fingerlings of the Russian sturgeon with a medium batch weight of more than 3 grams in the amount of almost 144 thousand pieces were grown by order of the Astrakhan Branch by a specialized fish breeding plant.

This release was carried out as part of the implementation of environmental measures to compensate for damage to aquatic biological resources and their habitat caused in 2019 during repair dredging works on the Volga-Caspian Marine Shipping Channel.

The expenses of the Astrakhan Branch for the cultivation and production of this batch of Russian sturgeon fingerlings amounted to more than 2.7 million rubles.

In 2021, the branch plans to organize another release of young Russian sturgeon into the Volga River.
