Towing convoy with upper part of drilling platform facility performs a voyage on the Volga-Caspian Marine Shipping Canal

A towing convoy consisting of three tugs, three convoy vessels and a transport and installation barge, on which the upper part of the drilling platform facility was being transported, left the seaport of Astrakhan on June 25, 2019 and started its voyage to V. Filanovsky oil deposit along the Volga-Caspian Marine Shipping Canal. The deposit is located in the northern part of the Caspian Sea.

Last year the bearing of the drilling platform facility was delivered to the deposit. When the upper part is delivered the construction of the drilling platform facility will be completed.

In order to make the towing convoy’s passage possible specialists of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Astrakhan Branch had made all arrangements to ensure safe movement on the Volga-Caspian Marine Shipping Canal.

Lev Tretyakov and MZ-102 motor vessels of the Astrakhan Branch Navigational and Hydraugraphic Support Service accompany the towing convoy until it exits the Volga-Caspian Marine Shipping Canal to ensure placement and safety of floating aids to navigation and prompt response to emergencies.

Pilots of the Astrakhan Branch jointly with Astrakhan VTMS operators ensure safe pilotage of the towing convoy.

The towing convoy is expected to arrive at the place of destination in the northern part of the Caspian Sea – the area of the oil deposit on June 28, 2019.
