Astrakhan Branch Fleet Replenishment

On June 21, 2016 Sommers dredger with hopper capacity 1000 m3 arrived in the seaport of Astrakhan, the vessel is provided by the North-Western Basin Branch to the Astrakhan Branch for addressing operating tasks before the end of summer navigation.

Sommers dredging vessel is the first of the three vessels of the TSHD 1000 project constructed in 2016 in “Krasnoe Soromovo” plant under the order of FSUE “Rosmorport”. On June, 2016 the vessel successfully passed sea trials.

The new vessel will provide to the Astrakhan Branch a qualitatively and prompt addressing the major tasks on the repairing dredging in the water area of the Volga-Caspian Marine Shipping Canal (VCMSC). In order to ensure safe trade navigation Sommers is planned to be used for dredging works in 158-175 km area of the VCMSC.

Currently, The Astrakhan Branch is currying out repairing dredging works in the water areas of the VCMSC, seaports of Astrakhan and Olya with the use of own dredging vessels – dredging pumps Urengoy, Ivan Chermisinov, Artemiy Volynsky, as well as the involved specialized fleet.

Following the results of 2015 dredging vessels of the Astrakhan Branch performed dredging works of total volume of 4,080 m3. In the current year in order to maintain navigation depths in the waters VCMSC the Branch is plans to remove 5.8 million m3 of soil.
