In Memory of the Fallen in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945

On the eve of the Victory Day celebrations the Astrakhan Branch organized a trip of the veterans-participants of the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945 and took part in the laying of the flowers to the memorial Monument to Destroyed Ships and Monument to Dead Red Army Sailors locatedin Astrakhan. Also they took part in the symbolic throwing of the flowers to the Volga river in memory of the heroic defenders of the country.

The monument to Destroyed Ships was erected in memory of the ships and their crews who died in the lower course of the Volga riverduring the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945 and was opened in July 1980 on the USSR Navy Day.

The monument to Dead Red Army Sailors was opened in May 1922 in the place mass graves of the Red Army sailors  of the Volga-Caspian Fleet during the defense of Astrakhan in 1919-1921.
