On October, 2015 in the FSUE “Rosmorport” Astrakhan Branch there was held a working meeting, chaired by Interim Director of the Astrakhan Branch Vladimir Gudkov, on summing up the interim results of carrying out repair dredging works in the Volga-Caspian Marine Shipping Canal (VCMSC) in 2015 and forming an implementation plan for the next year  dredging.

The meeting was attended by employees of the Astrakhan Branch, specialists of FSBI “Administration of the Caspian Sea seaports”, Ministry of Industry of the Astrakhan region, representatives of dredging companies and other interested parties.

The participants of the meeting discussed a wide range of issues, related to the repair dredging works in the VCMSC in the current year and plans for 2016, and analysed security of the hydrological regime in the sea part of the VCMSC in the period of 2013 to 2015.

During the meeting special attention was paid to preparation of the VCMSC with respect to necessity of carrying out dredging works in order to provide the required navigation depths on the routes of planned for 2016 escort of oversized objects – drilling platform elements designed for installation on oil and gas field n.a. Vladimir Filanovsky in the Caspian Sea.
