Living Quarters Platform Superstructure in the Caspian Sea

After a two-day journey along the Volga-Caspian Seaway Canal, on 30 July 2014 the towing convoy consisting of the Yuri Kuvyrkin transportation and installation barge carrying the living quarters platform superstructure on board, two “lake tug” tow boats and the Vzmorye transportation and bunkering ship put to the Caspian Sea.

The convoy started its journey at the Krasnye Barrikady shipyard, where the transported heavy superstructure for the equipment of Filanovsky oil field was build. The superstructure was designed for accommodation of personnel working at the LSP-1 drilling/operational platform, the central processing platform and riser block platform.

The pilots and operators of the Astrakhan Port VTS, ships and level posts of the navigational and hydrographic service of the Astrakhan Branch participated in the towing operation leading the convoy and performing hydrographical works on its route.
In order to ensure safe passage of the towing convoy along the Volga-Caspian Seaway Canal the Astrakhan Branch had set out two extra floating navigational signs near the 128.3 and 132.2 kilometres of the canal.

The weather conditions did not impede the routine mode of the towing operation. Earlier the Astrakhan Branch pilots despite the hard weather conditions had successfully performed a pilotage of the superstructure of the central technological oil platform, which had been delivered to the place of its installation in July 2014.

By the end of summer navigation 4 more facilities for the equipment of the oil field are to be put to sea.
