Permit obtained to put into operation facilities of Sabetta VTS and GMDSS facilities

Pursuant to Permit No. 89-RU89506000-004-2019 of February 13, 2019 issued by the Department for Construction and Architecture of the Yamal Municipal Entity Administration the automated radar posts No 1, No 2 and No 3, transmitting and receiving centers built under a project for building facilities of the Sabetta seaport have been put into operation.

These facilities were being constructed from August 2015 to March 2018 in compliance with the federal target program “The Development of Russia’s Transport System (2010-2020)”. FSUE “Rosmorport” acted as a construction manager.

Automated Radar Post No 1 is a tower of 65 meters in height with the apparatus cabinet. The tower is located on the territory of the seaport of Sabetta and designed for placing equipment and aids to navigation of Sabetta VTS and the A1 GMDSS sea area.

Automated Radar Post No 2 is a metallic tower of 80 meters in height where a VHF antenna and transceiver equipment of a radio relay link to assure the functioning of Sabetta VTS, a hardware module, a living quarters, an accumulator inverting module, a wind-driven generator and an autonomous diesel power unit are installed. The facility is located on the Yamal Peninsula in 47 kilometers in the northwest from the seaport of Sabetta.

Automated Radar Post No 3 is a similar construction like as Automated Radar Post No 2 where a VHF antenna and transceiver equipment of a radio relay link are located to assure the functioning Sabetta VTS. The facility is located on the Yamal Peninsula in 95 kilometers in the northeast from the seaport of Sabetta.

The use of these automated radar posts forming Sabetta VTS allows the FSUE “Rosmorport” Arkhangelsk Branch to monitor the navigable situation in the Gulf of OB and make radio and telephone communication with vessels.

The transmitting and receiving centers are located on the territory of the seaport of Sabetta and included in GMDSS equipment of the A2 sea area and the NAVTEX base station. The use of GMDSS facilities of A1 Sea Area and A2 Sea Area in the zone of their action allows for making permanent radio monitoring of vessels, transmitting and receiving messages and maintaining operative communication between vessels and the marine rescue coordination center “Dikson” of FSBI “The Administration of Western Arctic Seaports” to organize rescue operations.
